In honor of our wedding anniversary, my wife and I are sharing two of our favorite ceremony tips that made our day unique and memorable.
I know some of you think you are hopeless romantics and just can’t veer from the traditional mantra of the past. If that’s you, keep reading! Two of the best decisions we made when it came to our wedding, were far from traditional, and I highly recommend them to ALL my couples.
1. The First Look – I saw my beautiful bride for the first time under the shade of a tree whose leaves were blowing in the wind, just enough for the sun to highlight her eyes in the dappled lighting. There, alone (with only our photographer), we soaked in some time to ourselves, laughing in giddy excitement about the hours that lie ahead. We had set this time aside specifically for us. No hurry, no one was waiting and no interruptions. The images from this “First Look” at my future wife, are priceless to me!
2. Face the crowd – Now, this is a golden nugget! Instead of facing the officiant, switch your position. Have the officiant stand on the lower step, facing the bride and groom, while the happy couple stand on the higher step, facing the crowd of people who love and support them. Not only do you get to see the beauty created by all your hard work, you are looking into the eyes of your family and friends as you commit your life to each other. No more photos of your backs and the officiant’s face as you say your vows. Everyone is there to see the bride and groom, let yourself be seen! You will not regret it!
Happy Anniversary sweetie… I love you!
