Wedding Gone Wrong #12 – Trent’s Story

It’s time for another Wedding Gone Wrong!

I’m often surprised by the number of couples who aren’t satisfied with their wedding photography, and 9 times out of 10, their stories start with the phrase “We thought we were getting a really good deal.” I completely understand doing everything you can to save money, especially in our current economy, but you get what you pay for, and when you don’t… you get less. When you are looking for a photographer to cover your most important day, look for quality, not a bargain.

Here is Trent’s story:

We went with our wedding photographer because he is cheaper then most, this is the only reason why we went with him. But if I knew then what I know now about his service, I would have gotten another job to pay the difference to have a different photographer.

His pictures were OK… nothing too creative or artistic, and he didn’t do many close ups, but he did all the standard poses at the standard places. His sarcasm and attempts at humor were more awkward and borderline offensive than funny, and he showed a lack of patience during shooting.

After he was paid and the wedding was done, it was near impossible to get a hold of him. Once I did, he was not helpful in ordering prints, and avoided it like the plague. It took forever to get my CD of photos, and I had to hassle him to get anything done. We paid extra for albums that he said might be done by Christmas (we were married in MAY) It is now Mid- March, we have left over 5 messages, and have not heard from him.

I can relate! We only received “proofs”, that were packaged with a rubberband, and then were advised that he (the photographer) was moving to Florida, “see ya”!
Huge regret, those special moments were lost because not only did we not get our 8 x 10′s, the photos he took were serious lacking!
Photos are forever, my hope is that others will really take the time to research their photographer, it is a lifelong investment!
